This is why we will miss Jean Paul Gaultier’s ready-to-wear collections

Jean Paul Gaultier one of the geniuses of the designer world and also known as the “enfant terrible” of ready-to-wear, showing off his great sense of humor on a regular base, showed his very last ready-to-wear collection last week by staging a beauty competition. He announced his decision to quit the ready-to-wear business to focus on couture two weeks prior to Paris Fashion Week.
The collection was shown in the historic cinema “Le Grand Rex”. Besides celebrities like the French actress Catherine Deneuve and British pop singer Boy George, Gaultier’s designer friends Alber Elbaz, Gareth Pugh, Rick Owens and Jeremy Scott did him the honor by attending the fashion show as well.
The models were “competing” to win the Election to the “Election de Miss Jean Paul Gaultier 2015”. They appeared in groups such as the “Miss Footballer’s Wife”, “Miss Tour de France”, “Miss Fashion Editor”, “Miss Smoking” etc. And who won? – Model Coco Rocha got the title wearing a peach-colored dress – a variation of Gaultier’s cone-shaped bra (similar to the iconic cone bra Gautier designed in the 90′ for Madonna Blond Ambition Tour).

Enough said. As you can see on the pictures it obviously was an amazing and one of a kind show, if not the best fashion show of Paris Fashion Week. Without Gaultier, ready-to-wear will be a lot less exciting.
What do you think of Gaultier’s final ready-to-wear fashion show? Did you like it or are you quite happy to see Gaultier retiring? I am looking forward to hear your opinion.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Yours sincerely,
